Derby Table
*Update
Prototyping is over and the table first version is in the process of receiving a low V.O.C. Waterlox finish. There will be no stain, the reclaimed poplar, sourced from Longwood Antique Woods is beautiful on its own, and will age even further very well. Special thanks to Gathering Wood, Jim van Vegten, for his skilled fabrication work.
This table is in the beginning phases of fabrication and construction. There will be a prototype or two, and then some final hard wood versions.
Culture Shock was my thesis exhibition with the great designer Ana Carolina Gomez Bridge.
We had a joint exhibition because both our thesis subjects were both influenced heavily by culture.
The title of my thesis was:
”Modern Regional Manufacturing and the Vernacular Influence: sustainable approaches to innovate design“

This project involved designing a mailbox. The route I veered into was the American past time of hitting mail boxes with blunt objects. By creating a viable product that embraces this slightly illegal activity the consumer takes an active risk enticing to some taboo to others.
This is a project that involved me designing a lamp, and prototyping it using a 3D printer. The material printed was ABS plastic.
